Trade: Kyrgyzstan and China

August 18, 2007

On August 18, 2007 AmCham Kyrgyzstan organized an interview between the Head of Moscow Bureau “Voice of America” Peter Fedynske with a local expert in geopolitics and geo-economics Murat Suyunbayev.

The interview was focused on external trade of China, in particularly on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic. According to Suyunbayev, at the present time the primary trade partners for Kyrgyzstan are China and Russia. “Assortment represented by China's goods are huge enough -, and also covers those niche areas, which already exist and are developed in Kyrgyzstan, for instance-meat”. China takes first place is Kyrgyzstan's main trade partner.
Negotiations between China and Kyrgyzstan on building of railway Kashgar - Torugart were continued at the SCO Summit. As experts noted, upon completion of its construction China will take a higher position than before.
Also, Suyunbayev expressed his view over resources, usage of which might be interesting not only for China, but also for the others: “They are hydroelectric resources, tourism, strong education basis and qualified training personnel”.
Unlike China, the other countries, including USA invest much more to informational and cultural spheres rather than production of goods.
Interestingly, Chinese architecture will create the Martin Luther King's sculpture to be erected in the center of Washington DC. It was not for nothing, China is being distinguished for last thirty years as a of “Workroom in the World”.

Conclusion:

Cooperation on developing and implementing of the collaborative trade projects among two countries substantially increase liquidity and viability of goods in the Kyrgyz market as well as has a considerable export support.                                                                 AmCham express its appreciation to “Voice of Peter Fedynsky personally for the collaboration and  providing information.
