On September 20 the US Embassy in Kyrgyz Republic in partnership with the American Chamber of Commerce in Kyrgyzstan conducted a seminar “Doing Business with the USA” for local businessmen.
Goal of the seminar - providing practical consultations for Kyrgyz entrepreneurs on how to build relations with American trade partners and how to participate in tenders for projects of the US government in the “Manas” airbase and in Afghanistan.
More than 200 representatives of Kyrgyz and foreign companies, including AmCham members, attended the event. Representatives of the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Department Defense, U.S. Department of Commerce and U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) provided insights into opportunities for trade, how to find U.S. business partners as well as how to compete for contracts with the U.S. government at the “Manas” air base and in Afghanistan. Many local firms also shared their experience on legal issues, finance and shipping relating to conducting trade with the United States.
The particular seminar, based on the views of participants was informative and modern. Moreover, it significantly fostered making business connections with the new partners in the United States.
According to the statistics of U.S. Department of Commerce, trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and the U.S. more than doubled in the year of 2006 compared to 2005.
